An Early George II Silver Two-Handled Cup and Cover with the Arms of Fownes & Ilbert.
The arms commemorate the 1800 marriage of James Somerville Fownes, of Dinder House, Somerset and Frances Ilbert of West Alvington, Devon. A professional heraldry report accompanies this item.
Hallmarked to the underside of the cup base for London 1732 by Francis Pages. The cover is unmarked.
Approximate weight is 1.271 kilos or 40.8 troy ounces.
Approximate dimensions are 25 cm handle to handle length, 23 cm height and 13 cm top rim diameter.
In good condition with some clouding (fire staining) of the silver. The turned cover finial with a hole at the side. Free of dents and creases. Solder marks to the underside of the base, but probably from construction. Age related surface wear.
