Victorian silver plated trophy cup and cover for the 6th Lancashire Rifle Volunteers, dated 1886. The twin handled trophy cup is of excellent quality and raised upon a spreading circular pedestal foot. Features swag, ribbon and foliate chased decoration and two enclosed cartouches with inscriptions. One cartouche details the winners of the trophy from 1886 to 1903. The other cartouche reads:
F Coy 6th L.R.V. Drilling & Shooting Challenge Cup. Presented by Capt J. R. Metcalfe 1886.
The domed cover features the highest quality detailed kneeling soldier with his rifle. You can easily see the detail on the side of his boots, the regimental badge on his belt packs, buttons and sleeve decoration. One of the best I have seen!
