Georgian, George II, silver lidded tankard. Features a domed cover with heart shaped terminal to the handle and scroll thumb piece. Later chased with foliate and scroll detail.

Condition is very good with age appropriate surface wear. Traces of solder to the underside of the base. The tankard was probably converted to a jug, before being converted back again to a tankard. This is not immediately obvious but a later hallmark can be seen within the tankard (likely to be London 1967). This is not visible from the outside of the tankard and has been done to the highest standard (best shown in the first and last photos). The tankard is not watertight, due to the later chased detail.

Hallmarked to the body for London 1738 by Richard Bayley. The top of the tankard cover is also hallmarked for London with the lion passant and part of the makers mark being visible. Hallmarks are slightly rubbed.

Approximate weight is 676 grams or 21.7 troy ounces.

Approximate dimensions are 17.3 cm height, 16.5 cm length and 12.3 cm base diameter.

It holds about 950 ml of liquid.
