Georgian, George III, Old Sheffield Plate Tankard, circa 1770 - 1780. Of plain cylindrical form with three bands of reeded detail. The handle with heart shaped terminal and reinforced thumb rest. The tankard holds about 900 ml and does not leak.
In very good original condition with moderate surface wear commensurate with age. The tankard has not been replated and retains its original silver layer. There are are few creases and pressure marks to the handle. Wear to the silver wire reeded detail on the middle of the body band with a solder repair.
Approximate weight is 590 grams.
Approximate dimensions are 16.5 cm height, 16 cm length and 11.4 cm base diameter.
