Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson Portrait Print, After Baxter. In later frame and after the original by Lemuel Abbot, first published in 1853. The coloured print depicts a half-length portrait of Horatio Nelson. He is shown in Rear-Admiral's uniform wearing the Star and Ribbon of the Bath and the Naval Gold Medal. Nelson lost his right arm in battle, to reflect this the sleeve of his right arm is pinned across his chest.
HMS Victory is just visible in the bottom left hand corner of the print. It is signed in the bottom right corner BAXTER PATENTEE, but this is possibly an early 20th century copy.
In excellent condition with some wear to the blackened glass towerds the top of the picture frame.
Approximate dimensions are 23 cm length, 19 cm width and 1.3 cm depth.
Approximate weight is 366 grams.
