A Victorian Old Sheffield Plate Salver for the 6th East India Company Cavalry, circa 1840.

Of shaped circular form with a shell and scroll raised border. The salver is raised on three scrolled feet. The outer part of the main surface with engraved foliate detail and the centre with an engraved inscription to the Reverend John Milroy from Captain James Ferguson of the 6th East India Company Cavalry July 1843.

In very good condition with moderate to high surface wear and some pitting commensurate with age. Some loss of definition to the inscription. Possibly replated.

Approximate weight is 1.4 kilos.

Approximate dimensions are 37 cm diameter and 4 cm height.
