Edward Prince of Wales, later Edward VIII Bronze Relief Portrait Plaque in a Gilt Metal Surround. probably dating to the mid 1920's to mid 1930's.

Born in 1894 and created Pirnce of Wales upon his sixteenth birthday. He became King in January 1936, following the death of his father, George V. By December 1936 he had abdicated following his desire to marry an American divorcee, Wallis Simpson. During World War Two there were suspicions that he was a nazi sympathiser and he was made Governor of Bahamas to keep him out of the way. After the war The Duke of Windosr saw out his days in France, shunned by the British royal family.

Reputedly in the possession of the Churchill family and by descent to a grandson of Winston Churchill.

In excellent conditon with light surface wear commensurate with age. The plaque is unsigned.
