French Revolution Uniface Medallion "Siege de la Bastille", 1789. This dates to the early 19th century and would originally have been displayed within an album, or display book, of Napoleonic era medallions. It is signed Bertrand Andrieu.
Of patinated lead form with fine relief detail.
The Paris Bastille was stormed on 14th July 1789. It was a medieval fortress, armoury and political prison, representing royal authority in the centre of Paris. The fall of the Bastille was the flashpoint for the French Revolution.
In excellent condition with some markings to the rear from when it was fixed into an album or display book.
