George V Silver Matchbox Holder: 107th Pioneers, British Indian Army. Features the cypher of the 107th Pioneers to one side and an inscription for Lt. F. H. F. Hornor on the other side.
The inscription relates to Francis Howard Fardell Horner (1888 - 1958), later a Captain with the Pioneers.
The 107th Pioneers were an infantry regiment of the British Indian Army. Their origin can be traced back to 1788, when they were raised as the 4th Battalion, Bombay Sepoys. During World War one the regiment was deployed to France (Battle of Neuve Chapelle), Egypt and Mesopotamia.
