Georgian, George II, silver coffee pot. Of tapering and cylindrical form, later detailed with foliage & scrolls. The ogee domed cover with vase shaped finial. The double scroll handle and spout capped with acanthus leaf detail. A vacant cartouche to one side.
In excellent order with light surface wear, commensurate with age. Free of dents, splits and creases. A little clouding of the silver to the the top of the coffee pot.
Hallmaked to the underside of the base for London 1735 by Gabriel Sleath. Further part hallmarked to the inside of the cover with the lion passant and the rubbed maker's mark (only the S is visible). The handle is a Victorian silver replacement. The mark for the handle appears to be that of Richard Sibley II. There is no date letter, only the duty mark of Queen Victoria's Head and the lion passant.
Approximate weight is 785 grams or 25 troy ounces.
