A George II solid silver lidded tankard jug by Benjamin Cartwright I, London 1759. Features later embossed decoration and the addition of a spout to form the jug.
The tankard is in excellent order and is clearly hallmarked to the inside of the lid and the main body. Features S scroll handle with thumb piece. Cartouche features the crest of a naive style lion wielding a sword. The later floral decoration is of excellent quality.
No splits, dents or visible repairs, an excellent example.
Approximate dimensions are 19 cm height, 21 cm spout to handle width and 13 cm base diameter.
Approximate weight is 828 grams or 26.6 troy ounces.
