Georgian, George III, Cased Silver and Mother of Pearl Dessert Service for Six. The knives each with a portcullis crest and all housed in an associated case.
Each Knife is hallmarked for Sheffield 1817 by Joseph Rodgers & Son. Each fork stem is hallmarked for Sheffield 1817 with no maker's mark present.
The knives and forks are in excellent condition with the blades and tines ready to use and firmly secured to the handles. The mother of pearl handles are without losses or chips. There is moderate surface wear commensurate with age. The case has moderate wear to the exterior and the cartouche appears to be a non metal replacement. The case has a lower compartment and so can hold a further twelve items of cutlery. The cutlery will move about in this case, if carried, but once stored in position it will protect this set from daily wear and tear.
Not suitable for use in a dishwasher. Wash only in lukewarm water.
