Georgian, George III, Old Sheffield Plate Candlestick, ex Gordon Crosskey Collection, circa 1775. The stem with spiralling bellflowers and the sconce with acanthus detail terminating in a square base for the beaded and removable nozzle to sit on. The base with an acanthus border and a band of scrolls and flowers. The well with swag and acanthus detail.

Gordon Crosskey was the author of Old Sheffield Plate: A History of the 18th Century Plated Trade.

In excellent condition with light surface wear commensurate with age. Warm copper bleed to the raised detail. There is no covering to the underside of the base.

Approximate weight is 1.150 kilos.

Approximate dimensions are 32 cm height and 12.5 cm base length/width.
