A splendid example of a Georgian, George III, Old Sheffield Plate lidded tankard, circa 1760. Features a reeded and domed cover, thumb piece and two bands of reeded girdles to the slightly tapering body. The base is wooden and the handle features a contemporary monogram.
In excellent order with very little copper bleed. There is light surface wear, particularly to the interior. There is the occasional minor bruise to the base rim, but no major dents or creases. The tankard holds about 1 litre of liquid and has no leaks.
Approximate weight is 680 grams.
Approximate dimensions are 19.5 cm height, 15 cm length and 12 cm base diameter.
