Georgian, George III, Old Sheffield Plate Tankard, circa 1770 - 1790. Of plain form with a central girdle, heart shaped handle terminal and wooden base. The tankard has not been replated.
In very good condition with moderate surface wear and light pressure marks commensurate with age and use. One crease towards the top of the handle (photos 5 and 6). A fair amount of copper bleed.
The tankard holds about 800 ml of liquid full to the brim and does not leak.
Approximate weight is 499 grams.
Approximate dimensions are 16 cm height, 16 cm length and 12 cm base diameter.
