Georgian, George III, Pair of Old Sheffield Plate Candlesticks, circa 1770 - 1790. Each candlestick is raised on a square base with very fine beaded detail. The stem and well are detailed with lozenges and swag detail at the upper part of the stem. The square shoulder with fine beading, leading to an urnular, leaf detailed, sconce and removable beaded nozzle.
In good condition with moderate wear commensurate with age. The sconces have heavy wear and several creases. Both sticks stand straight and have not been replated. The original layer of silver is in good order. Some solder marks to the stem of one. The underside of the bases are uncovered and the nozzles do not sit entirely flush, but would appear to be original. Both display very well.
