Georgian, George III period, pair of Old Sheffield Plate sauce tureens and covers. Circa 1790. Both are of navette and pedestal form, featuring urn finials to the covers and reeded detail to the borders and handles. Both are raised upon oval, pedestal feet.
In very good order with some copper bleed. The covers do not sit fully tight, leaving small gaps at each end. The bases are numbered 1 and 2 (photo 6), whilst the covers have one dot and the other with four dots (photo 9).
Approximate weight for the pair are 900 grams.
Approximate dimensions of one are 24 cm length, 13 cm height and 10.5 cm width.
