Georgian, George III, silver inkstand, raised on four bracket feet. The inkstand has two pen recesses, a pounce pot, a dip pen ink bottle and a covered bottle for storing more ink or pounce. The bottles are all diamond cut glass.
In excellent order, free of dents, creases and repairs. There are some minor chips and nibbles to the glass bottles, which would appear to be original. Light surface wear commensurate with age.
Hallmarked to the underside of the stand for London 1816 by William Bateman I. The three silver bottle holders are further part hallmarked with the lion passant, King's head duty mark and the rubbed maker's mark (only the pellet and the B are visible). The pounce pot and dip pen silver bottle mounts are hallmarked for 1816, with only the first letter of the maker's mark visible. The mount on the covered ink/pounce bottle is not hallmarked and is probably a later replacement.
Approximate silver weight is 307 grams or 9.8 troy ounces.
Approximate total weight is 712 grams.
