Georgian, George III, silver and mother of pearl dessert knives and forks for twelve. The knife blades are all crested. This set is housed within its original tooled burgundy leather case with a cream velvet interior.
In excellent order and ready for the table. The case has moderate wear to the exterior but is sound in construction. The interior is in very good order with some of the spacers loose, but all present. There is no damage to the knife blades or fork tines. One knife handle has four pins in the mother of pearl and a fork handle has a split in it. All of the handles are secure.
The knife blades and fork stems are hallmarked with the lion passant and the duty mark of the head of King George III. There is no maker's mark, or year letter and this is not uncommon with Georgian silver cutlery. This duty mark was in use from 1786 to 1821, but this service dates to around 1810.
Approximate cased weight is 1.256 kilos.
Approximate case dimensions are 13 cm length, 20.5 cm width and 4 cm height.
Approximate knife dimensions are 19 cm length and 1.5 cm blade width.
Approximate fork dimensions are 15.5 cm length and 1.6 cm tine width.
