Georgian, George III, silver wine jug. Features a wicker bound handle and domed cover with pineapple finial. There is a splendid armorial to one side. The jug is raised on a sqaure base and four bun feet. There are two bands of beaded decoration and the jug is of shield shape form.
The purchaser will receive a detailed report on the armorial, which are the marital arms of Hanmer and Child.
In excellent order with very light surface wear.
Hallmarked to the underside of the base for London 1776 and probably by John Scofield. Further part hallmarked to the inside of the cover. It is an unrecorded maker's mark and would probably have appeared in the lost register. Grimwade attributes this to being probably John Scofield.
Approximate weight is 705 grams or 22.6 troy ounces.
Approximate dimensions are 29 cm height, 15.5 cm length and 10 cm depth.
