A splendid Georgian, George IV period, twin handled Old Sheffield Plate serving, or butlers, tray. Circa 1820 - 1830. The tray is of large proportions and is raised on four outcurved ornate bracket feet with scroll detail. The leaf capped handles emerge from leaves that form into scrolls. The main surface is hand chased in the rococo manner. There is a rubbed in silver square to the centre, ready for a crest or monogram. The tray has rolled over silver edges. The raised border is elaborately decorated with scrolls and foliage.

In excellent order with surface wear commensurate with age and light copper bleed, mainly to the chased surface.

Approximate weight is 5.86 kilos.

Approximate dimensions are 77 cm length, 48 cm width and 5 cm height.
