Georgian, George IV period, pair of Old Sheffield Plate candlesticks, circa 1820 - 1830. Of heavily cast and ornate form with circular bases and removable drip trays. Both are marked as "silver edges" to the inside of the candlesticks where the base of the drip tray sits.
In good order with high surface wear commensurate with age. There is some loose filling inside the candlesticks. Both stand straight and there are some pressure marks to the base rims. One column with movement when twisted, but stands secure. Blackening of the lead filled silver detail, as per the photos. Areas of copper bleed.
Approximate weight for the pair is 2.5 kilos.
Approximate dimensions of one are 30 cm height and 14 cm base diameter.
