Georgian, George IV, Pair of Old Sheffield Plate Crested Sauce Tureens, circa 1820. Of lobed form and raised on four outswept bracket fee with leaf shoulders. The twin leaf capped handles emerging from foliate mounts. The rims of the tureens with shell, scroll and leaf applied borders. The removable leaf capped loop handle on a bed of foliage. One tureen and cover numbered 1 and the other numbered 2. The tureen bases with rolled over silver edges and vacant rubbed in silver squares to each side. The covers with a crest to one side.
In very good order with moderate surface wear commensurate with age and for their use as serving items. Copper bleed to the lobed covers and interior of the tureens. The handles are cast in two pieces and a slight gap can be seen on one (this does not affect use).
Approximate weight for the pair is 2.05 kilos.
