Georgian, George IV, Pair of Old Sheffield Plate Sauce Tureens & Covers, circa 1820. Of rectangular form and raised on four leaf shouldered paw feet. The tureens have twin ornate handles and a gadrooned border. The domed covers have ornate loop handles and gadrooned decoration. Each side of the cover has a rubbed in silver circle. One side is crested showing a bird between a pair of antlers. Both the tureens and covers feature rolled over silver edges. The tureens are numbered 3 & 4, whilst the covers are numbered 2 & 3.
In excellent order with light wear, commensurate with age and for their use as serving dishes. Slight gaps when the covers are fitted to the tureens.
Approximate weight for the pair is 1.780 kilos.
Approximate dimensions of one are 21.5 cm length, 12.5 cm width and 13.5 cm height.
