Late Georgian Old Sheffield Plate Salver. Of shaped circular form with a raised scroll and leaf lead filled silver border. The central armorial within a rubbed in silver circle. The salver raised on three lead filled silver scroll feet. Later chased detail to the main surface.

The arms are those of Crompton and almost certainly for Samuel Crompton (1785 - 1849). He studied at Trinity College, Cambridge and was the Member of Parliament for East Retford, Derby and Thirsk. A professional heraldry report accompanies this item.

Features the crossed arrow mark of T & J Crewsick, circa 1820 - 1840.

In good condition being free of dents, creases and splits. Some copper bleed to the chased detail on the main surface. Silver wear, exposing the lead on the leaf detail.
