An Outstanding and Complete Late Georgian Set of Four Old Sheffield Plate Entree Dishes, Covers & Warming Stands. Of shaped rectangular form with naturalistic detail. The warming stands are raised on four ornate cast feet with leaf detail. The twin, leaf capped, handles emerge from leaf form mounts. The ornate removable handles with a base of flowers and leaves. The borders of the entree dishes and covers with elaborate applied foliate detail. The covers feature unused rubbed in silver squares.
In excellent order with moderate to high surface wear and scratches commensurate with age and for their use as serving dishes. The highest wear is to the underside and the main surface of the entree dish bases. The warming stands and covers have less wear. Some wear to the lead filled applied silver borders. Hardly any loss of the original silver layer. They display beautifully and are ready to use.
Each entree dish base has the bell mark for Roberts, Smith & Co. of Sheffield, circa 1830.
