The 1813 Landing of King William I of The Netherlands at Scheveningen Plaque in High Relief. This plaque, from 1863, commemorates the 50th anniversary of the landing and the end of Dutch control by Napoleon Bonaparte. The plaque depicts the arrival by boat underneath the coat of arms for The Netherlands with the legend "No Netherlands Without Orange".

The circular ebonised wooden frame with domed glass cover. The high relief scene in silver plated metal.

The Kingdom of Holland was set up by Napoleon Bonaparte as a puppet kingdom for Louis Bonaparte, his third brother. King Louis did not do as his brother asked and the kingdom was dissolved in 1810, with the Netherlands annexed by France until 1813.

The plaque names those involved in planning an uprising against the French occupation. In November 1813, when it came clear that Napoleon was losing the war against the Coalition, Van der Duyn Van Maasdam, Van Hogendorp, Kemper, Falck and Leopold Van Limburg Stirum took power after an uprising and invited Prince William Frederick, the son of the last stadtholder, to come to the Netherlands and to accept the title of Sovereign Prince. On 30 November 1813 Prince William Frederick landed at Scheveningen with a cheering crowd welcoming him.

In excellent condition with no glass damage. There is the number 126 in Roman numerals at the bottom of the plaque, which may indicate a limited amount were made.
