Pair of George IV Old Sheffield Plate entree dishes and covers with crest and motto of the Christopher family. The dish and cover both feature gardrooned borders, whilst the detachable handles are of naturalistic, leaf capped form, resting on a bed of leaves. The covers can be used as further serving dishes with the handles removed.
The motto of the Christopher family is "ARTE CONSERVATUS", which translates as Preseved by Skill.
In very good order and ready to use. There is some wear to the gadrooned border of one dish, as shown in the photos. High surface wear and scratches commensurate with age and use as serving dishes. The dishes have not been replated.
Both bases feature the eight crossed arrow mark of T & J Creswick of Sheffield.
Approximate weight for the pair is 3.55 kilos.
Approximate dimensions of one dish and cover with the handle attached is 30 cm length, 21.5 cm width and 15 cm height.
