Royal Patriotic Fund Crimean War Jug. Earthenware with transfer printed detail and of baluster form. The jug was designed by George Eyre and manufactured by Samuel Alcock and Co, Hill Pottery, Burslem in 1855.

One side of the jug is detailed with a scene depicting a group of wounded soldiers on a battlefield, while on the other, a grieving widow is shown surrounded by her children. The Royal Patriotic Fund was established for 'the succouring, educating and relieving those who, by the loss of their husbands and parents in battle, or by death on active service in the present war, are unable to maintain or to support themselves'. By January 1855, the fund had already raised £550,000.

In good condition with no chips or losses to the transfer printed detail. The jug does have three stable cracks, which have been shown in the photos. Two cracks are towards the base of the jug and are visible on the interior and exterior. The third crack is on the top rim and also visible on the interior and exterior. The last four photos illustrate the cracks.

Approximate weight is 1.05 kilos.

Approximate dimensions are 20 cm height and 17 cm handle to spout length.
