Victorian pair of silver plated entree dishes, covers and warming stands. Of domed and bellied form with cast rococo foliate decoration. Detachable foliate capped loop handles. The warming stand bases feature ornate twin handles and are raised on four shaped feet. Each warming stand has a screw cap cover, leading to a reservoir for hot water in the base.

One warming stand base features the makers mark and retail mark of G. R. Collis & Co of regent Street, London. George Richmond Collis opened his Regent Street shop in 1854 and the firm was absorbed by another company in 1888. The other warming stand is unmarked and a near match.

The two entree dish bases feature the twin sun makers mark of Matthew Boulton. It seems as though the dishes and covers are Sheffield Plated and they may date to between 1840 and 1860, the crossover period between Old Sheffield Plate and electroplating.

Condition is very good with moderate to high surface wear and light scratches commensurate with age and use as tableware. Some areas of light copper bleed.

Approximate weight for the pair is 8.3 kilos.

Approximate dimensions are 39 cm length by 26 cm width and 16 cm height.
