Early Victorian mahogany cased set of silver and green stained carved ivory dessert knives and forks for twelve. The interior of the original case is fitted in burgundy velvet.
In excellent order with minor wear to the cutting edges of the knife blades. The carved ivory handles are in very good condition. One knife and one fork each have a crack in the ivory handle. This does not affect use. Some rubbing of hallmarks on the knife blades. There is some wear to the outside of the case and it does not shut quite fully tight. The interior is in excellent order and I do believe it to be the original case. Surface wear is commensurate with age.
Each knife blade and fork stem is hallmarked for Sheffield 1846 by John Oxley.
Approximate total cased weight is 1.815 kilos.
Approximate case dimensions are 29 cm length by 23.5 cm width and 6 cm height.
Approximate knife dimensions are 20 cm length and 1.6 cm blade width.
Approximate fork dimensions are 16 cm length and 1.7 cm tine width.
