A William IV Rosewood Cased Set of Crested Silver and Mother of Pearl Dessert Knives and Forks for Twelve. The mother of pearl with carved crown terminals, possibly for the 1831 Coronation of William IV.
Twelve forks and Eleven Knives are hallmarked for Sheffield 1831. One knife is hallmarked for Sheffield 1827. All pieces are marked for George Hardisty and have an identical crest.
Approximate total cased weight is 2.32 kilos.
Approximate case dimensions are 28 cm length, 23.5 cm width and 7.5 cm depth.
Approximate knife dimensions are 19.7 cm length and 1.7 cm blade with.
Approximate fork dimensions are 15.5 cm length and 1.7 cm tine width.
The knives and forks are in very good order with tines and blades ready to use. The carved mother of pearl is without losses, or repair, but does have some age related wear. The handles are all tight and ready to use. The case has a split across the cover and a slight gap in one corner where the side has slightly moved away from the rear. The case does not have a key.
