William IV Period Old Sheffield Plate Reniform Heated Serving Dish. The baluster handle unscrews, from a leaf mount, to allow hot water to fill a reservoir under the base. The central divider can be removed if required. The domed pull off cover with scrolling leaf form knop. The crest is contained within a rubbed in silver square.
Marked to the inside of the cover and underside of the base with the bell mark for Roberts, Smith & Co. of Sheffield, circa 1830.
In excellent condition with some wear to the applied border of the base, as well as deep scratches to the base interior. Moderate surface wear commensurate with age and for its use as a serving dish.
